Refund Policy

We want you to feel confident in your MicroplastX purchase. Because our test kit involves a personal biological sample and laboratory processing, our refund policy is designed to be fair to both our customers and the scientific integrity of the testing process. Please review the terms below carefully before placing your order.

1. Unopened, Unused Kits

If your kit is unopened, unused, and in its original condition, you may return it for a full refund within 30 days of delivery. To start a return, email us at hello@microplastx.com with your order number. We will provide return instructions. Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer unless the return is due to our error.

2. Activated Kits and Submitted Samples

Once a kit has been opened, registered, or used to collect a sample, it is non-refundable. This applies whether or not the sample has been mailed back to the laboratory. Once your sample arrives at the lab and processing begins, the cost of laboratory analysis has been incurred and cannot be reversed.

3. Damaged or Defective Kits

If your kit arrives damaged or with missing components, contact us within 7 days of delivery at hello@microplastx.com with your order number and photos of the damage. We will ship a free replacement at no cost to you.

4. Order Cancellations

You may cancel your order for a full refund at any time before it has shipped. Once an order has been processed and shipped, the standard return policy above applies. To request a cancellation, contact us as soon as possible at hello@microplastx.com.

5. Sample Issues

In some cases, a sample may be unable to be processed due to insufficient volume, collection errors, or shipping delays. If this happens:

  • We will notify you by email as soon as the laboratory reports the issue;
  • We will send you a free replacement collection kit so you can submit a new sample;
  • If you prefer not to retest, you may request a partial refund of the kit price (less laboratory processing fees already incurred).

6. Refund Processing

Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method within 5–10 business days of our receipt and inspection of the returned item (or, for cancellations, within 5–10 business days of approval). Depending on your bank or card issuer, it may take additional time for the refund to appear on your statement.

7. Non-Refundable Items

The following are non-refundable:

  • Opened, registered, or used test kits;
  • Digital products, community memberships, or subscription access that has been activated;
  • Promotional or discounted items marked as "final sale";
  • Original shipping fees (except for damaged or defective kits).

8. Subscriptions and Recurring Orders

If you are enrolled in a subscription, you may cancel future shipments at any time by emailing hello@microplastx.com at least 3 business days before your next scheduled charge. Charges already processed and shipped follow the standard refund policy above.

9. International Orders

At this time, MicroplastX ships within the United States only. We are unable to accept returns or process refunds for unauthorized international resales.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Refund Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. The policy in effect at the time of your purchase governs your order.
